Madame Tallien Earrings

From our Liberté, Égalité, Feminité collection, Madame Tallien (1773 – 1835) was a Spanish-born French noble, salon holder and social figure during the revolution.
The French salon was a key institution in which women played a central role. Salons provided a place for women to congregate for intellectual discourse. Later she became Princess of Chimay. Tallien became a symbol of the end of terror in France. This is reflected in the piece by the woman’s calm, terror free expression with drooping pearls, rather than an aggressive, rigid form.
